I am ashamed to say that I haven’t been in my greenhouse or my garden all week. That in itself is a scandal, made even more scandalous by the fact that it’s been a lovely, sunny few days.
I do have an excuse though, I’ve been on a Jury in Court and although I thought I’d be able to work and garden in the evenings, I’ve been too exhausted.
Luckily at this time of year the greenhouse can fend for itself, most of the plants are so small that that they don’t need regular watering.
Lots of the seedlings are up already and developing their first true leaves. It’s full of flowers too as the hyacinths are in full bloom along with the crocus and dwarf narcissi.
I’ve put most of these out in the garden now as they are beautiful colour on the patio and around the front door and are also providing extra food source for my bees.
The potted hyacinths (in terracotta pots) have made lovely gifts for friends and the perfect last minute birthday gift for a neighbour.
The smell is glorious and I chose to grow the richest deep blue variety, which is such a stunner at this time of year.
