I went to a bee meeting at the weekend and I’ve come to realise that I am addicted to bees. Apparently it’s all I talk about now! But you know what? I don’t see what the problem is??
As a gardener and a botanist and a huge fan of wildlife and the environment, it would be a wonder that I wasn’t at least interested in these pollinating insects.
My bees are doing really well. I’ve added three more bars to the hive to give them some more room. There’s been a bit of a population explosion as lots of the first brood has now hatched and these bees are now learning the ropes and starting to nurse the bee larvae.
It’s fascinating watching them take their first flight and orientate themselves to the hive. I’ve been watching them bringing home little balls of pollen of every colour and nectar too.
There’s a lot of wild thyme round here and I can see my bees all over it when the sun is shining and the nectar flows.
