At the recent trade show I spent three days trawling the stands for the latest trends and new products about to launch at the garden industry. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get a preview of what’s hot and what’s not but it is hard work.
As the show closed on the Wednesday some exhibitors were selling off their stock to save carting it all home and so it was the perfect opportunity for a shopping spree.
Apart from investing in some funky outdoor furniture it didn’t take long to track down someone selling off some fab garden bulbs.
Trouble was I didn’t have masses of cash left, but there was just enough to buy three fabulous, octopus like tubers of the foxtail lily (eremurus) and some hardy cyclamen. What’s more I spent the weekend weeding the border at the front of my cottage and planting them.
Now of course, I can’t wait for them to flower, but that’s the fantastic thing about bulbs, they bridge the gap between autumn and spring with the promise of wonderful things to come.
