There’s a small outbreak of aphids in my greenhouse and they are multiplying fast in the warm weather. My first line of attack is my greenhouse ladybirds, but I haven’t seen many in there over the last few days and suspect they may have made a bid for freedom when the automatic vents kicked in. Since I set off the greenhouse smokes the whole place stinks of garlic and I mean really stinks. That’s the bad news! The good news is that I’ve seen a couple of ladybirds wandering around in there, either they’ve been woken by the pungent smell, or they are responding to the slightly milder weather. Read more…
