I am very disappointed with the greenhouse peaches. The plant has been really healthy and created quite a stir from flowering in the spring to fruiting, but the actual fruits and still tiny, basely the size of apricots and they are now ripe.
It’s very late for a start, but they are so small it’s like a bonsai crop.
Maybe I should have thinned them? But there weren’t that many fruit on the stems in the end.
I’ve never grown peaches before.
It’s been a lovely greenhouse plant and the early blossom was great for the bees, but maybe they did too good a job?
The fruit that has ripened tastes OK, but just OK, so I am disappointed.
Every space in the greenhouse is precious and although it has earned its place with the lovely blossom, I was hoping for bigger and better fruit and earlier too.
I won’t ditch it, I’m not good at throwing plants out, but I may not give it such a prime greenhouse spot next summer.
It may go out when it flowers and stay out until autumn.
We’ll see.
