Everything in the greenhouse is really happy and healthy at the moment. There’s been a steady stream of plants ready to plant out into the raised beds and gardens.
I’ve planted out my courgettes, some runner beans, loads and loads of salads and herbs and a vast array of container plants, mostly verbenas and cosmos that flower for months and are fantastic for the bees.
We’ve been eating freshly picked salads every day for weeks now and there’s a constant supply in the greenhouse.
It’s important to give the seedlings loads of room to grow on or they get pot bound, weak and some, like rocket, go to seed very quickly.
I’ve been planting mine into large pots and planters full of Westland’s Organic Vegetable Growing Compost. The plants simply love it and quickly create masses of tasty, rich green leaves ready to harvest. Plus when you’ve harvested the leaves they are quickly replaced with more.
It’s a nice feeling when you are shopping not to need to buy bags of salad and when you think how much salad you can grow from a couple of packets of seeds you must be mad not to give it a go.
You just can’t buy fresher salad than that you grow in your greenhouse or garden and if you avoid using chemicals and choose to grow organically you can save yourself several pounds each week and ensure that you are eating healthily.
