The weather on Sunday was glorious, so once the greenhouse windows had been opened, the seedlings in the greenhouse had been watered and the cold frame opened and the plants inside checked it was time to spend some hours outside catching up on a few jobs.
I bought some plants from a small nursery on Sunday and true to my new year’s resolution, they were planted by mid afternoon. I managed to get a pretty purple Verbascum phoeniceum ‘Violetta’ which the bees will love, a rich purple red flowered Origanum laevigatum ‘Herrenhausen’, another bee favourite and a small Astrantia ‘Hadspen Blood’.
You can see the colour scheme I’m into at the moment and it’s been a long moment. Every plant I buy now has to work even harder for it’s place, it has to be bee friendly and provide a source of nectar or pollen, it has to look good and be garden worthy too.
I’m pretty happy with what I have bought and they are now planted out ready to grow.
