The last few days have been filled with glorious sunshine and I’ve been stuck inside staring at a computer screen as I am a bit behind on my deadlines. With the blue sky brightening the horizon it is so tempting to get out into the garden in the daylight and work until late at night.
Unfortunately I am so behind all I managed was about half an hour in the garden yesterday. The sunshine quickly warms the greenhouse and cold frame so it is essential to check every pot in case it has dried out. As the greenhouse water and outside tap is still switched off to avoid frozen pipes, watering is a bit more of a chore at the moment, but it makes me realise how precious every drop of water is.
Ventilation is also important, so I’ve been opening the windows for an hour or two to let the air flow through, it helps to reduce the risk of fungal diseases that are so quick to attack seedlings and cuttings at this time of year.
